The Bozosphere just noticed an interesting comment on a box of Scotch Tape.
Hundreds of uses! Who knew? We got together at a local dive bar after work one day and tried to think of hundreds of uses, but we gave up after 72 or so. Being inquisitive sorts, we contacted the 3M corporation with this question.
Dear 3M, We were sitting around at a local dive bar the other day and tried to come up with the 100’s of uses you claim for Scotch Tape. We got to 72 or 73, depending on whether two of them were actually the same use. But we couldn’t get beyond that. Does 3M keep a list of the hundred of uses that you might be willing to share with long time happy users?
3M got back quickly.
Hi Bozo, Thank you for contacting 3M, where we Apply Science to Life. Unfortunately, we do not maintain a list of the 100 uses. However, we are delighted to hear that you have discovered 72 uses for it. We appreciate your interest in 3M products and will be happy to pass your feedback along to our marketing team.
We Bozos were not satisfied with that response, so we replied with this:
Dear 3M, Thanks for getting back to us so quickly. We do think that if 3M claims hundreds of uses, they should have a list of them somewhere. Our list was written on a napkin at a local dive bar. We’ll check to see if we still have the list and if so, send it along to you. We don’t think we can easily recreate the list as our memory of that evening is more than a bit hazy. If your marketing folks would like, we would be happy to visit them in St. Paul for a brainstorming session. Regards, the Bozos
We’re anxiously awaiting 3M’s response
